LAMINGTON NATIONAL PARKBACK TO AUSTRALIA

Another area of out-standing natural beauty-the highlight of this park(for me)is in the hinterlands.

'O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat' is at the end of a long and twisty up-hill drive, but if you wish to see out-standing wildlife,it is well worth the effort.Even the journey there provides glimpses of the rich local fauna-Sulphur Crested Cockatoos,Galahs,Pheasant Coucal and Kangaroo to name but a few.As soon as you reach the approach road to O'Reilly's car park there are flocks of Firetails in the shrubs at the edge of the road and Eastern Spinebills in the Grevillea to greet you, hinting at what lies ahead.

I recommend arriving at the Retreat early in the day to make the most of what the park has to offer. We didn't arrive until after mid-day and regretted that we had not had more time to explore.

In addition to the facilities for day visitors, there is also accommodation available for a longer stay at the retreat. Please click on the following link for further details about O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat:
